Change is afoot at Madison's University Research Park (URP) that could lead to a more campus-like feel to the Park and more amenities for tenants/employees. URP is an internationally recognized research and technology park that supports early-stage, and growth-oriented businesses. These companies operate in highly competitive spaces, so attracting/retaining talent is a major challenge. Adding amenities, improving walkability and providing more of a community feel to office parks can help its tenants achieve these goals. Compass Properties President Tyler Noel said his firm is interested in working with URP to add dining and other retail amenities. “We would like to put some retail amenities along Mineral Point Road in a standalone building, or possibly as additions to one of our two Office Centers there,” Noel said. Compass Properties recently purchased its second office building in the Research Park – Park West I and has a lease on 11 acres around its office buildings that could be used for a mixed-use, commercial building.

Growing up, I was a huge fan of Andy Williams (RIP), who adopted “Moon River” as his theme song so it became a favorite of mine as well. The song, composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, was originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Now Frank Ocean has given this favorite oldie new life in a cover with light instrumentals complementing surges of multiple Ocean vocal tracks. Worth a listen!
